torn, shattered and still standing
18.5 x 1.5 x 24.5
Acrylic paint, torn and patched canvas (see T shape towards left corner as pictured in 3rd pic). Created 2015.
This painting endured a crazy windy outdoor event in my home city of Asheville, NC. The result of it being blown off it’s hooks was a beauty mark that resembles a perfectly shaped “T” once I patched it up. I am someone who thinks scars are pretty and interesting. I think they add an exotic hint of survival, transmutation, healing and transcendence… so when pieces of my art acquire their own unique scars or beauty marks, I have learned to embrace them rather than hide or discard them.
